Lovelady Shield is on ‘the other side of Cumbria’ where guests prize peace and tranquillity. We call them Lovelady people and they understand that this area is a prized secret.

This elegant Georgian Country House Hotel stands on the banks of the River Nent in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you arrive via Penrith then you will be travelling on the A686 – voted as one of the world’s top ten drives by the AA.

The hotel retains the ambience of a private residence and you will be warmly welcomed into it. The highlight for many is dinner in our elegant dining room, the menu is varied and imaginatively prepared by our masterchef, Mr Barrie Garton and we currently have been awarded 2 Rosettes by the AA.

Lovelady Shield is in ‘the middle of nowhere’ but is ideally placed at the centre of everywhere – The North Lakes, The World Heritage Sites of Hadrian’s Wall, Durham Cathedral and other major attractions such as the highest waterfall in England, Yorkshire Dales and Beamish... to name just a few.
