The Royal Castle Hotel - Devon Luxury Hotel
A famous quayside inn overlooking the river Dart. Behind its’ imposing regency façade the Royal Castle Hotel has been welcoming visitors and merchants and celebrities since 1693. Built around a central court yard with galleried landings and staircase, the hotel has 25 rooms all individually decorated – many with four poster beds, spa baths and a stylish mixture of modern and antique features.
The hotel is very much at the heart of the town. On the ground floor are two popular bars where locals gather for morning coffees, lunches and evening meals. On the first floor is the famous Nu restaurant that overlooks the inner harbour. Food and drinks that feature on the menus uphold the hotels’ green credentials, with many local foods and 100% traceability from the famous Castle breakfast to the homemade scones served with local preserves and clotted cream.
The hotel is a great destination for a visit anytime of the year. During the cooler months the log fires burn and locals have the time to have a drink and a chat. In the summer the town is a hive of activity with the world famous regatta and several other well established festivals
